Uganda’s Climatic Seasons

Uganda is characterized with two climatic seasons that is; rainy and dry seasons of the tropical climate. And each season offers its merits and demerits for the tourists at large.

Rainy season

(March – May & October – November)

Merits

Lower costs – accommadation and safaris are usually cheaper hence providing good value for money. Limited crowds – There are fewer individuals offering more serene & private safari. Lush landscapes – The green is always vibrat in this season making stunning photographs with a natural experience.

Demerits

Abrupt distruptions – Frequent or random rain showers make adventures in remort areas become inaccessible and also disrupt viewings and safari activities. Challenging trekking activity – because of the muddy slippery areas mostly in the forests eg Bwindi Impenetrable national park, gorrilla trekking and other activities become challenging

Dry Season

(June – September & December – February)

Merits

Best for gorilla trekking – Less rains means drier taills and more comfortable trekking conditions which makes it favorable for a safari in Bwindi Impenetrable national park. Friendly & comfortable weather – Temperatures are moderate with less humidity and fewer insects like mosquitoes ,enchancing your comfort. Clear wildlife sightseeing – Animals tend to congregate around water bodies/ sources ● ● ● making spotting them easy. Also the sparse vegetation allows better game viewings.

Demerits

Numerous crowds – Parks and hotels/ lodges get too busy most especially during the peaks months of July and August. Higher pricing – Since its a peak tourist season thus bringing higher prices for accommodations and tours thats why advance bookings are adviced.

Best time for numerous tours

1) Game viewings

Best timing – June to September , December to February This improves efficient visibility of wildlife congregations as they’re around water sources and also vegetation is less dense.

2) Bird watching

Best timing – March to May, October to November Since these months coincide with the migration season of most birds, this offers a wide range of opportunities to apot numerous bird species.
